Passionate Dyes - beautiful hand-dyed fabrics by a partnership of two like-minded individuals who love textiles and colour. Susan Lum and Martha Todd live in Vancouver, British Columbia and work from their homes creating beautiful hand-dyed fabrics.          

Inspiration comes from their surroundings – the ocean and the forest just minutes away from their homes.

“Playing” with colour and experimenting with different dyeing techniques gave them an opportunity to amass a wonderful array of unique fabrics.

Their fabrics cover the complete colour spectrum but have an added feature with many pieces evoking landscapes, sea beds, trees, forest floor and flower gardens that are created by folding, pleating, scrunching and shibori techniques. Layering of colour creates richness in each piece resulting in depth and texture.

As well as creating hand dyed fabrics, the Passionate Dyers are also avid artists in  the studio. Their fabrics form the basis of quilts, wall hangings, accessories, hand covered books and beaded work.
